If you are considering therapy, it is natural to have questions about how the process works. Below are answers to the things I am most commonly asked.
Frequently Asked Questions
I specialise in working with young people from the age of 12. Having worked in schools, I understand the unique pressures teenagers face and provide a space where they feel heard and respected.
Yes, working with my trained therapy dog is an option for both adults and children. Her presence is very grounding if you feel nervous about therapy. We can discuss this during our initial consultation.
I work Monday 12pm-4pm, Wednesday 4.30pm-8.pm Friday 2pm-7pm, Saturday 10am-2pm.
My aim is to offer a first appointment – known as an initial assessment – within 1-2 weeks. Then we would arrange a set number of counselling sessions to take place at the same time every week, that is convenient for you and where I have availabity. How quickly these sessions can begin will depend on the availabity of that free ‘slot’.
I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. This allows me to offer the time to someone else. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will usually be charged at the full session rate.
This does vary considerably and does depend on what you would like to work on. We can discuss this in more depth at our first session.
Consistency is an important part of the therapeutic process. We will usually meet once a week at the same time. This regularity helps build the trust and momentum needed to make meaningful changes in your life.
